Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 16, 2026

AetherAI Remind ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") is a free, ad-supported Android application that provides a home screen launcher together with smart reminder and countdown features. This Privacy Policy describes what information is collected, how it is used, and how it is protected when you use the App. By installing or using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

1. Overview

Most launcher, reminder, and storage-cleanup data is processed and stored locally on your device. We do not sell your personal information. Certain features rely on Android permissions or third-party SDKs that may process limited information as described below. We request only the permissions needed to provide the features you choose to use, and we use them solely for those stated purposes.

2. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services that operate under their own privacy policies, including:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK
  • AI and cloud service providers (when you use AI reminder creation)
  • Crash reporting and analytics providers (if enabled)

3. App Permissions and Feature Usage

Like other Android launcher apps, AetherAI Remind requests certain permissions so core features can work. Below is what each permission is used for and how related data is handled. You may deny or revoke optional permissions in Android settings; doing so may limit the related feature.

3.1 Installed Applications (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)

AetherAI Remind functions as a home screen replacement. To display your app drawer, place app icons on the desktop, and let you search or launch installed apps, the App requires broad visibility into installed applications on your device.

Your installed app list (app names, package names, and icons) is processed entirely on your device. This information is not uploaded to our servers, stored remotely, or sold to third parties.

3.2 Default Launcher (Home App Role)

Launcher desktop features are available only when you choose to set AetherAI Remind as your default home app through Android system settings. This is optional. You can switch back to another launcher at any time in Settings > Apps > Default apps > Home app.

3.3 App Widgets (BIND_APPWIDGET)

This permission allows the App to host system and third-party widgets on your home screen, consistent with standard Android launcher behavior. Widget configuration data remains on your device.

3.4 Uninstall Apps (REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES)

If you choose to uninstall an app from the launcher interface, this permission allows Android to process the uninstall request you initiate. We do not uninstall apps without your explicit action.

3.5 Notifications and Alarms

  • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Used to deliver reminder notifications at the exact time you schedule. Android may prompt you to allow exact alarms on newer system versions.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Used to restore scheduled reminder alarms after your device restarts, so reminders continue to work reliably.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS (where required by your Android version): Used to show reminder alerts. You can disable notifications for the App in system settings.

3.6 Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)

Used only when you tap the voice input button while creating a reminder with AI. Audio is not recorded in the background. If you deny this permission, you can still type reminders manually.

3.7 Internet Access (INTERNET)

Required to load legal pages, process AI reminder requests, fetch online content where applicable, and serve advertisements through third-party ad networks.

3.8 Advertising ID (AD_ID)

Used so advertising partners such as Google AdMob can measure ad delivery and, where permitted by your device settings and applicable consent requirements, serve personalized ads. You can limit ad personalization in your device's ad settings or reset your Advertising ID at any time.

3.9 Status Bar (EXPAND_STATUS_BAR)

Used for launcher gestures or shortcuts that expand the system status bar, consistent with common launcher utility features.

3.10 Notification Permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

On supported Android versions, the App may request permission to post notifications in your device's notification shade. This permission is used together with scheduled alarms so we can alert you when a reminder is due—for example, showing the reminder title, time, and related details at the moment you scheduled.

Notifications are used only for reminder-related alerts and similar App functionality you enable. We do not use this permission to send unrelated promotional messages without your consent. You may deny or revoke notification permission at any time in Android system settings; if you do, reminder alerts may not appear until permission is granted again.

3.11 Media and Storage Access (Storage Cleanup)

AetherAI Remind includes an optional Storage Cleanup feature that helps you find and manage photos, videos, screenshots, large or duplicate media files, downloads, and audio on your device. To scan MediaStore content for this feature, the App may request the following permissions, depending on your Android version:

  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and earlier, where applicable): Allows the App to read shared storage media so Cleanup can list eligible files.
  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: Allows the App to access photos and images for Cleanup categories such as images and screenshots.
  • READ_MEDIA_VIDEO: Allows the App to access videos for Cleanup categories such as videos and large video files.
  • READ_MEDIA_AUDIO: Allows the App to access audio files for Cleanup categories such as music and other audio.

These permissions are used only when you use Storage Cleanup. Media metadata and file listings are processed locally on your device to help you review and select items. We do not upload your photos, videos, or audio files to our servers for this feature. Deletion of selected items occurs only after you confirm the action, and on newer Android versions may use the system MediaStore delete confirmation flow.

If you deny these permissions, launcher and reminder features continue to work; only Storage Cleanup scanning will be unavailable until access is granted.

4. Information We Process

  • Reminder data: Titles, dates, repeat rules, icons, and settings you create or edit.
  • Launcher layout data: Home screen arrangement, folders, and widget placement stored locally.
  • Cleanup media metadata: Local file names, sizes, types, dates, and locations used only to present Cleanup results on your device.
  • AI input: Text or transcribed voice you submit when using AI reminder creation.
  • Device and diagnostic data: Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and basic usage data for stability and analytics.
  • Advertising data: Advertising ID, ad interaction data, and related metrics collected by ad SDKs.

5. How We Use Information

  • To provide launcher, reminder, countdown, widget, and optional storage-cleanup features.
  • To process AI requests and return structured reminder suggestions.
  • To schedule, deliver, and restore reminder notifications.
  • To help you review and manage selected media files locally when using Storage Cleanup.
  • To display and measure advertisements that help keep the App free.
  • To improve performance, fix bugs, and maintain security.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

6. Local Storage

Reminder records, launcher layout preferences, Cleanup selections or caches where applicable, and most configuration data are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App or clearing app data may permanently delete this information unless you have backed it up through Android backup features where available.

7. AI Processing

When you use AI reminder creation, the text or transcribed voice content you provide may be transmitted to our servers or third-party AI providers for parsing. Please do not submit passwords, financial details, or other highly sensitive personal information. AI output is a suggestion only; you should review all details before saving a reminder.

8. Advertising and Google Mobile Ads SDK

AetherAI Remind may display advertisements using Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, similar to other free launcher apps on Google Play.

The advertising SDK may automatically collect information such as:

  • Advertising ID
  • Device information (model, OS version, language)
  • IP address
  • App interactions and ad engagement
  • General usage data for fraud prevention and ad measurement

This information may be used to serve ads, measure ad performance, and provide ad personalization where allowed by your device and consent settings. Opting out of personalized ads does not remove all ads; non-personalized ads may still be shown. Data collection by Google is governed by Google's privacy policies.

9. Log Data

If the App encounters errors, diagnostic information ("Log Data") may be collected through third-party services. This may include IP address, device model, Android version, app configuration, and the time of the error. This data is used to improve stability and is not used to identify you for unrelated purposes.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The App itself does not use browser cookies. However, third-party SDKs used for advertising or analytics may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies.

11. Data Retention

Launcher, reminder, and local Cleanup-related data stored on your device remains there until you delete it, uninstall the App, or clear app storage. Server-side data related to AI requests or diagnostics is retained only as long as needed to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, and meet legal requirements.

12. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers only as needed to operate the App, including hosting, AI processing, advertising, analytics, and crash diagnostics. Data accessed through launcher or media permissions is used strictly for the App functionality described in this policy. Third-party services such as Google AdMob process data according to their own privacy policies.

13. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information in transit and in operation. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Children's Privacy

AetherAI Remind is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us through the developer contact information on the App's Google Play Store listing so we can take appropriate action.

15. Your Rights and Choices

  • Manage or revoke permissions in Android system settings at any time.
  • Disable notifications or exact alarms through system settings.
  • Deny media access if you do not wish to use Storage Cleanup.
  • Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in device ad settings.
  • Change your default launcher without uninstalling the App.
  • Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.

17. Contact

If you have questions or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the developer contact information provided on the AetherAI Remind listing on Google Play.
